Different types of teas?

Points to first person who can write me a list of different types/names of teas, not including chai, green, rooibos, cahmomile, any other herbal teas or earl grey. Thanks!

The Six Main Classes of Tea are white, yellow, green, oolong, black (red), and pu-erh. There are literally thousands of varieties and sub-varieties of each of these classes, so it would be impossible to name them all.

Well all tea leaves come from the same plant, camellia sinensis, and just get processed differently. The four true tea types are: white, green, oolong, and black. But there are a few other popular types of tea: Herbal- usually has no actual tea leaves in it but instead is a mix of berries, flowers, and spices. Red and green rooibos- south African bush that is Renowned for it's health benefits. Mate: which is actually a root

I joined Doehi Tea Club and I have been a huge fan ever since. You will see that there are several types of tea, and I am going to eventually try everyone of them.

If you want one of the most comprehensive lists of different types of tea on the internet, you might want to check out the page on "Styles and Varieties of Tea" on RateTea.net, an interactive tea website that I run:

    http://ratetea.net/style.php

This list is broken into different categories...so if you are only interested in black teas, you can limit yourself to them. There are currently 154 varieties listed but that includes some of the categories you described, including herbal teas that are not true tea, and flavored teas like Jasmine.

There are also "types" of tea that aren't listed there. For example, you might want to look at grades of tea, like orange pekoe: http://ratetea.net/topic/grades-of-tea/17/ - grades are not the same as style. You can have Orange Pekoe Assam tea and Orange Pekoe Ceylon tea, etc. Similarly, within Ceylon tea you can have Orange Pekoe or Broken Orange Pekoe or Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe or all that stuff. Those are grades, not styles.

Also you want to look at regions. Some styles of tea (like Assam, Darjeeling, Pu-erh, etc.) are wedded to a particular region, but others (like English Breakfast) are not...they could be a blend, or a pure tea from different regions. If you want a pretty comprehensive listing of the different regions that grow tea, there's also one of these on my site:

    http://ratetea.net/region.php

I hope this answers your question. There's no quick and easy answer, because names of tea sometimes refer to the style of tea, sometimes to the region in which it is grown, sometimes to both, and sometimes (like orange pekoe), to the grade (i.e. size and quality of the tea leaf).

Green tea is not fermented tea, fresh leaves soon after Airing Baidu directly down to the hot pot in the frying or two to keep its green features. This is the largest group of Chinese tea production, and its many varieties first in the world.
