If they don't germinate, you plant more. Why the nerves? They're only plants!

Planted in the shade, they should still sprout, but zinnias don't grow well in the shade. It would be a good idea to transplant them when they come up.

im a botanist and i can tell why shad is not always the factor with zinnia seeds they need good rich soil so what you can do is dig around the seeds and mix with a planting soil form a hard wear or garden store and mix your soil with it and water water about 2 twice a day never during noon because the sun is in the highest place and will evaporate the water and the seeds will get nothing i hope this helps

Zinnias are hot weather and sun lovers. You will get plant but not as much bloom in shade. Morning and evening shade might be OK if they get midday sun.

I continuously use a starter kit, (mini greenhouse) so as that the plastic suited warms it up. If not I positioned sturdy potting soil into an previous ice cube field(the kind you put in the freezer) plant my flower seeds interior the cubes, water, then cover with seran wrap till they sprout. i think of it takes approximately 2wks or so. then I shop them there till i'm waiting to transplant in my backyard or pots.
