what are your views on burq ban in some countries?

france will enforce burqa ban soon, many people think sarkozy is doing this do get sympathy from the "racist" far right.

i think they are not racist they are justified and i am social liberal.why do i think they are justified?

1.it is oppresive.european and western values are against oppresion towards women

2.burqa is discouraged even in some muslim countries,in many muslim countries women prefer to wear head scarves

3.people have the right to preserve their culture, muslim women can still wear head scarves(i am not sure if they banned that too,but they shouldnt)

4.if ultra conservative muslims have a problem with that then they shouldnt settle down in france, they can go back to their country.

i live in a country with a muslim minority and most educated muslims dont even wear head scarves and marry outside their religion.they have kept their traditions alive and have adopted a little bit of our culture too.only the crazy fanatical isolationist idiots force women to wear burqa which is intolerant and our cultures are not intolerant.

just because we believe that every one has the right to wear anything doesnt mean they wear or are forced to wear something oppressive just like for instance democracy grants the freedom of speech, you cant spread dirty rumors about some one

immigrants have an obligation to adopt at least a litttle bit of our culture, all my buddies do that while keeping their traditions alive. immigrants are like future members of a family whereas expats are guests

It's a choice of Muslim women to wear burqas. If they make that choice of their own free will it's not oppression towards women, I see plenty of Muslim women who chose not to wear burqas.

I don't see how you end oppression against women by enacting laws taking away their choice of clothing.

I do not agree with burka ban, unless you ban all religious things equal to it like priest outfits, crosses, starts of david, the pope hat etc. You can't just ban burkas.
