With the NFL draft fast approaching?

Mike Mayock is better. Not only is his analysis better but he has been around the game more. Son of a coach and he played in the NFL for a few years.

NFL draft analysts and predictors like Kiper, McShay, and Mayock all have a staff of folks that put together information about the players and what teams need to formulate the views they present on TV and in their mock drafts. So, in each case, it's much more than just the one guy.

His arrogance aside, I think Kiper does the best job overall. But it's fun to watch him react when the guy he predicts being drafted next isn't chosen and someone he doesn't expect gets picked.

These guys, and no one else, can get into the minds of the GM's and coaches. I think the GM's and coaches use Kiper and the others to bluff the other teams by feeding them false information at times.

No matter how good a mock draft looks on paper, fitting a teams needs to available players, it takes just one early first round trade to totally screw them up. Of course it does the same thing to the teams as well. They have to scramble and rethink their draft boards on the fly. That's what makes the first round fun to watch.

I like Mel Kiper, I think he is the best out of the three. It is really and an imperfect science; because football is such a schematic sport.

Mike Mayock is better than both.

Kiper is the worst of the three.
