What did you think of the movie The Source Code?

I recently watched it and though it had elements of The Matrix and Inception, I found that I really enjoyed. It was too short in my opinion, running time around 90 mins.

Very trippy! I wished it was longer too! The Ending floored me!

I agree with you in that it felt short. I guess becuase it was just that great of a movie! Anyway, I also agree with you in that it had elements of Inception. I'm honestly not sure which movie I think is better, Source Code or Inception. I loved that it really kept me on the edge of my seat. And I know a movie is awesome when I go "NooOoo waaaay!" at the end. Excellent, excellent movie.

    SPOILER ALERT!

I loved it up until the end, which I didn't like at the time but which has grown on me the more I've thought about it. At the time, I had three problems with the end:

1.) That he'd died in our reality. Though I would have mocked it for being too obvious, part of me wanted the Hollywood ending, the one where he woke at the last minute and could go find the girl as himself, not Shawn.

2.) The fact that the woman who helped him die in the end would probably be facing criminal charges for showing mercy.

3.) That he ended up stuck inside Shawn and not as himself. Couldn't he have looked into that mirror ball thing and at least seen his own face? True, it wouldn't have made sense given that Christina knew him as Shawn, but even so...

I've thought about it more, though--this is definitely a movie that stayed with me--and I've come to like the way it was handled. If his body had been whole, the story would have been different, but when he was so irreperably broken, death really was the best option for him. That he was able to live was just a bonus, and I'd have hated it if his life had ended with the kiss. And while I don't care that Shawn kinda got the shaft--though Jake what's his name is WAY cuter--this way, he gets to leave his old life completely behind. If he'd been himself, maybe he'd have wanted to go back and continue fighting in the real war. He doesn't have to feel like that now. And though I wish the lady wouldn't be punished, her actions did put the humanity back into the whole situation. She stopped the Source Code for a time, saved him from being used again and again. Worth it, I suppose.

Definately worth seeing, and I admit that I like movies which leave possibilities open.

And by the way? Excellent choice of avatar name. Death Note is one of my favorite movies of all time, though I admit that L depressed me.
