PLEASE HELP - How can I find this leak?
First, a little background:
There is a spot in my yard that is ALWAYS wet with standing water and attracts mosquitos in the summer. So I dug up a 10 foot section and installed a drainage pipe.
The problem:
While installing the pipe I noticed that there was water coming from a crack in my foundation about 6 inches below ground level. It's not a lot of water, but certainly a steady flow of clean/clear water.
What I did:
I called the water company and they said that it was probably my problem. At their suggestion I checked my water meter. With all appliances in the house turned off the water meter is perfectly still.
What do I do now?
Jiminpa2- it's not the main. The leak is in the wrong place. (but I have the water company coming out to verify).
Meanolma - I think your senerio is more likely. We are VERY near a local creek (kind of back in the woods). What can I do if you're right?
The water table is very high where I live, you cannot build below ground level. My basement is at grade level. This water doesn't come into the house unless we have a VERY heavy rainstorm. Then I get maybe 1/2" in the laundry room.

have you considered that there may be a spring or artesian well on your property?...
if you have water around the foundation of the house, you need to dig down the wall to the bottom and have professional help in locating its source....
