My dog has a dry spot on his elbow...?

It looks gray, dry and rough. It's about the size of a quarter and its hairless. Anyone know what it maybe?

It's a callus from laying on hard floor !

For one, you can put vaseline on it to make skin smooth again. (or baby oil, but don't let the dog lick it all off )

and more importantly, provide the dog with a soft bed so the elbows get a chance to heal .

it's quite frequent, it happens to all dogs laying on hard floors.

This is from laying on the hard floor. Make sure that your dog has plenty of beds and soft surfaces to lay on. Even if you do provide soft surfaces, you dog may still choose to lay on the hard floor. The hard floor is cool and it is a nice way for dogs to cool down when the weather is warm. To help get rid of and comfort the spots, try rubbing them with olive oil several times a day. The spots probably won't go away completely but it will help to comfort and soften the skin.

My dog has that too. Our vet told us its very common in boxers. One of her paws had a little bit peeled skin as well. So she tested for fungus and scraped some skin to test for a growth or any other serious condition. She told us it was nothing big just gave us antibiotics n an ointment and told us 2 use a moisturizing shampoo on her. Her skin seems 2 be doing better. But idk Im not a vet. This is my experience and all I can suggest is that you check with the vet to make sure its nothing serious and use a good moisturizing shampoo. =) Good luck!

My dog gets that also, I find that if I brush it and keep the dandruff off it seems to help.
