Help! New boss is such a jerk! What should I do?

I will make this as short as I can but please read because I'm so sick and tired of this.

I work with a transportation company cleaning buses. We had a boss who was extremely lenient and let things slide all the time. He was so easy to work with and was an excellent manager. Then, he left because he had found a better job and hired somebody else. This new guy is cracking down on every single rule and bringing out the whip. He's making it a nonsmoking area (which means a lot of the mechanics are going to quit) He won't let people go home for an emergency. AN EMERGENCY. Seriously?? He won't let people go home sick (regardless if they have a fever and are throwing up) Aren't these against labor laws???

Last but not least: I got written up yesterday for my doctors notes. The new boss took me to someone higher up in the company who yelled at me saying that my doctor hadn't written a "return of date" on my doctors excuses and she also hadn't listed "limitations" and since I only cleaned 2 buses instead of 3, he wrote me up for two things:

Excessive Absences (Without Acceptable Excuse) which ties into

Lack of Production (my doctor told me to take it easy but they need that in WRITING)

I loved this job at one point. Why is this happening? Will it ever get better? How can we all deal with the new boss without having to find a new job?

    I have been in your position before and did the wrong thing so please listen. Keep quiet at work! Do what you must in getting the doctor on board with the employers expectations and get the required paperwork. Your best bet is to leave voluntarily and not be let go. The supervisor my company hired did not even qualify for the position but was hired anyway. She thought she knew things but really did not have a clue. She was a narcissist however and she wanted to make a big name for herself. She did a number of things that were against labor standards. She forced us to work overtime without pay and refused for us to document the true time worked. All the girls were coming to me to complain because I was there the longest. When I spoke to the supervisor and told her what she was doing was wrong and illegal, she set out to ruin my career. I was informed she poured over all my charts (I am a nurse) for the previous 5 years over the course of 3 days looking for something to nail me on. Fortunately I am good at my job and she came out empty handed. I began to get write ups on a daily basis after that. I never had one warning in 5 years prior to this and had nothing but glowing letters from my clients. I would be given more work than one person could posibly do and she told the others not to help me. They were allowed to help each other but I was excluded. I was constantly harassed and it escalated to her false documenting in my charts to turn things around to make me look bad. The IT department showed me where she went in 10 days after the fact on one occasion to change the situation. I tried to be nice to her and that did not work. Since her behavior toward me scared everyone else, nobody would even acknowledge what was going on to the union. A couple of the girls cried when they told me how sorry they were that this person was doing what she did to me because I had always been there for them and when they needed help I was right there. I carry a wealth of knowledge regarding anatomy and physiology and medications pharmacology. I also have many skills and was often called when the others had trouble drawing blood or perfoming some type of skill. Not one person, however was willing to step forward on my behalf or even admit to the union what was happening. It was too late for me. I was offered a transfer and was told by management "she will never leave you alone" so it was take the transfer or wait for her to get me fired. I hated the next job and did not stay, I had loved the previous job. Now I have to explain how I left that position to any prospective employers. I hate reliving that pain. That supervisor left for greener pastures just ahead of them getting rid of her months later, she wasn't even there a year. The other girls left one by one for other jobs, they had the chance to move on with a good reference and none of them could hold a candle to my work. The organization was sold due to the mismanagement. I urge you to start looking for a new (better) job and something will either come up or that boss may just get fired or quit. Make yourself a resume and be prepared, it never hurts. For now just ride the wave, and mind your p's and q's. Remember even if a door closes, God opens a window. Good luck to you.

    Hate to be the bearor of bad news but, you are experiencing a corporate change. When that happens the first to know is management. They then have to decide for themselves if they like the new policy changes or look for other opportunities outside the company. ("he left because he had found a better job"). This is no longer going to be the same job. You can either play the new game or look for other opportunities outside the company or work from home. I vote for working from home. It has helped me.
