Should I buy a new laptop or ipad 2?

The iPad is probably the worst choice possible for video editing: Slow (but highly power-efficient) dual core processor, no multimedia hardware acceleration for video editing/processing, no hard drive (!), 100% incompatible with MacOS, and lack of professional software (it's a consumer-oriented device).

A laptop is also a bad choice for video editing, a $1000 desktop will easily outperform a similarly priced laptop. For $500+ more, no laptop will beat it (server class CPU, 3+ RAID disks, etc.).

If you work as a freelancer, the iPad is great to play videos to customers.

in my opinion, i could get a computing device. maximum folk have iPad's inclusive of their laptops. Looks like you already answered your own question. You need a laptop for video editing, but you want an iPad. I understand, since they are really cool. But you better go with your need first, and look for a used iPad 1 on craigslist to satisfy your want.

noooo to the ipad 2 trust me. Invest in a mac but look for a refurbished one so the price will be lower. trust me on this
