    Exothermic means you are releasing energy into the surroundings. Endothermic means you are taking in energy from the surroundings and putting it into the system. For example, when ice melts, it is is absorbing heat energy from the surroundings. Exothermic means your reactants have more energy than your products in a reaction. So, endothermic is the opposite of that. Does this make sense at all?
