Do we still have privacy in this day and age or merely the idea?

Privacy is a concept that means different things to different people. Making ourselves feel secure because we keep our information "private" is a lovely myth, just like everything we do to feel safe and "secure".

It is not just an issue of this day and age that anybody who wants to find things out about you can do it. That has always been true. However, certain personal information can be more readily available, or more easily accessed by more people using the internet.

My opinion is that the concepts of privacy, security, and safety are, and have always been and will always be, merely an idea.

Yes, we still do. What has changed is people EXPECTATIONS of what should be private. They post stuff online for the world to see, then cry "invasion of privacy" when it used against them.

And, information that can be found about you online has always been public information. The only difference is that the information is easier to find than before. Where you had to go to the courthouse (which may be in a different town or state) to get the information before, you can do it now online in the comfort of your living room.

Contrary to what some want and try to push we aren't living in the age of Big Brother just yet. Our TVs aren't spying on us YET. When you are in your own home and have the shades down there is privacy. I could walk around my house naked and people wouldn't know.

Privacy is dependent on our minds . The walls we build ,As soon as the wall is compromised there is no privacy .

Oddly enough, while more information about you is more easily available to more people, it's probably the case that your neighbors know less about you now than they probably would have known 150 years ago.

technically you have no "right" to privacy anywhere in our laws the closest is the right against unreasonable search and seizure.
