Am I paying for all 3 apartments heat?

After noticing my gas bill was super high I started looking into why. Here is what I found:

-We have 1 natural gas furnace in the building.

-We have 3 apartments in the building.

-Off the single gas line coming into the house we have 3 meters

-The meters for the 2nd and 3rd apartment have 2 lines going off them one to a gas hot water tank and one to their range and dryer.

-Our meter has a line going to our range and dryer and then a line to the single furnace.

-Called the gas company and they tell us our gas bill is double the 2nd and 3rd apartment and we don't even use the heat

Any ideas? I feel like we are paying for the heat for all 3 floors.

"Hello, Mr Landlord? We need to talk." You are going to want to get consensus from the other apartment dwellers on whether they, too, are "paying for heat", or have just been (unintentionally) mooching offa you.

Will the gas company come out and do a check on the situation. Or call your landlord and have him send a plumber to check/fix the situation. Don't let them overcharge you.

if there is only one furnace to the building and it is coming off the meter that is yours then yes you are paying for it all

When you call a plumber, make sure the company is licensed for gas fitting plumbing. Not all are so certified.
