Will the Arizona birther law backfire?
Arizona is about to pass a law that presidential candidates have to prove US citizenship to be on the ballot there. Obvious this is prompted by the Arizona birthers who think Obama was born in Kenya. This is going to backfire on the birthers and state because Obama is gong to be able to prove his citizenship and the state is going to be forced into the embarrassing position of certifying his citizenship - the only state that has to and the state most loath to do so. Its the Law of Unintended Consequences - the right wings worst enemy - ask Jim Demint!

It wont make Arizona a laughing stock. Either way, it will make President Obama look bad. If Obama comes up with a genuine Birth Certificate, the the next question would obviously be, "Why would he let the Americans worry all this time, whether he was an American or not, when he could have so easily have quieted that fear, by simply showing his birth certificate." What would he be trying to prove? Wouldn't any GOOD PRESIDENT, want to make sure, that not ANY one could run for president, and then eventually take us over. And if he can not show his Birth Certificate, well then, that is just as bad. Either way, he showed poor judgment. By not showing it, he SHOUTS to the world, that its ok, for any one to run, even a terrorist.

How would this be considered a "backfire"? If he shows his birth certificate, then that would just show the effectiveness of the law. Not to mention finally end all this squabbling.

There are immigrants who know American law and basic citizenship responsibilities better than some Americans.

yes it will, there is a bill (i think Montana ) that would make the rights golden boy Marco rubio ineligible because his parent were not citizens of the US, go ahead and make our day Obama was born here

Actually, there are similar laws in a dozen or two other states that will be passed before the next election.
