What are your thoughts on the name ♀ GEMMA?

→ Italian, meaning "gemstone"

The name has grown on my a lot in the past month or two. Admittedly, this is probably due to my recent interest in model Gemma Ward. SO likes it too, though not as much as me. If I add it to my list, it will be as a middle name because I alread have Jennifer (nn Jenna) on there as a first name, and Gemma is too similar to Jenna. Either that, or it will replace Jennifer.

What are your honest opinions on it? Be as harsh as you like :)

NB: I don't care for the spelling Jemma much, or the name Emma.

I have always gone back and forth on this name. Right now I like it. However, I don't think I would ever name my daughter this because of the fact that I keep going back and forth. I guess you could say it's a guilty pleasure name of mine? I DO like Jenna better than Gemma, however I like Gemma better than Jennifer. If it were ME, I would have Jenna on my list of first names, and Gemma on my list of middle names. I think you should decide if you like Jennifer or Gemma better and decide if Gemma will replace Jennifer or if Gemma should be on your middle name list.

I really like the name. I don't recall ever hearing it until the show sons of anarchy so to me its pretty unique. An from watching the show makes me see it as a strong person who is very loyal and family tied. I don't care for it combined with jennifer so I would personally chose to replace it with Gemma.

Gemma has been growing on me lately too! I've always thought of it as kinda a trashy name, mainly due to the associations I've had with different people. Looking at the name on it's own, I actually think it's very pretty! I much prefer it over Jennifer :)

I love the name GEMMA, but my husband wouldn't agree on girl names with me. 

I also loved TAHLITHA (little lamb in the bible), but we agreed on DANISA (DAH-NEE-SA)

It's okay. I have always pronounced it with the G sound instead of J. I think it sounds better that way.
