How to stop lagging on my sims 3 game?

I bought the sims 3, and the sims 3 late night. I have a dell laptop and i decided to go to the sims 3 website, go to the exchange, and downloaded about 3 sims. Next thing ya know, i start to play and it freezes up, and is very very laggy/slow. Any idea what the cause of this is? Is it ram? where can i get that? Help!

I would if i were you, run a disc cleanup and defrag your PC and also run a virus scan. They just clean that bit of junk on your PC that you didn't realize you had.

If your game is still running slow then i would recommend buying a new PC, or video card.

The main problem for laggy video games is usually the lack of a proper video card. Most likely, your laptop has integrated graphics. You cannot do anything about this. It is possible to install a video card on a laptop but it's too much hassle, trust me, and there's a high chance you won't be able to do it anyways.

If you have at least 2GB RAM, you are fine. Another reason might be that your processor (CPU) is too slow. Here are the system requirements: http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq

The easiest way to find out if you meet them is to go here: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/

Also don't go to Best Buy for your computer upgrades, they charge a fortune there and Best Buy rips you off. For example, a 5770 there sells for $200+ when a better version of the 5770 sells for $120 normal.

I had been playing my Sims 3 for about 6 months and had quite a few cool families i was working on. Then it started lagging. my sims would walk about 2 steps and pause and then walk 2 more steps and pause. i read all the answers on here and followed some. I defraged my computer and ran all my virus cleaners and pc cleaners. that didn't help. Then i went into about 10 of my families and deleted all the extra vehicles in all their inventories and that helped completely. i bet i deleted about 50 vehicles in all. i also made sure i didn't have any seeds in my inventory. I had read that that can mess the game up also.

close any and all different courses you are able to, that are working interior the background. If that would not artwork, freezing would be brought about by employing having a caught sim someplace on the city - in case you utilize the reset sim cheat they are going to become 'unstuck' and your concern could be solved. Press and carry administration+shift+c to open the cheat window, type ResetSim* to reset each and all of the sims interior the city - this could mean all your sims will give up what they're doing and reappear on their abode lot (in the event that they're already at abode they are going to stil disappear and reappear, in many circumstances outdoors their front door).

You could: Get more Ram. Go to best buy and ask for some, and they could probably install it for you.

    or,

buy a better Graphics Card at Best Buy, and maybe they could install it.

For a temporary fix, run the game, go to settings, and set all of the visual/graphical settings on LOW or NONE
