My blackberry is SO SLOW! HELP!?

I have a blackberry curve 8900 and when I first got it it was super fast! Is there a way to delete apps fully? How do I do this? Is there some "code" to clean up the garbage on the phone?

Please help it takes me 5 minutes to send a text because it can't keep up!

    I also have a Blackberry curve, I find that doing a battery pull, leaving it out for 2 min solves a lot of issues, this will reset it.
