Why do people think the mainstream media is left-leaning?

That is what their right-leaning network tells them.

How can you possibly "poke holes in the claims" when ALL of the worlds information and intelligence gathering organizations reported a different scenario? The mainstream media didn't "side with the government," they simply reported the news at the time.

Hindsight is 20/20 - too bad it isn't available when the decisions have to be made.

Remember when the NYT printed a full page ad about General "BeTrayUs?" Even before he had addressed Congress with his assessment of the war.

The wire tapping story was released when they had sufficient evidence to back the story up - something that in the past had been lacking due to dubious stories and outright fabricated stories. Their reputation took a significant hit from these stories.

The holes in your story come from the fact that just about every prominent Democrat on Capitol Hill had the same information and all claimed there were WMD. That is how the media reported that one, they got the same answers from both sides.

The reason I think the media is left slanted is because they make sure they portray their story very sympathetically toward left issues and don't report the facts of both sides equally. If they would just quit omitting parts of the story that they don't want you to hear and report in a way that keeps their personal political views out of it, It would be great. And yes, FOX does the same thing. Give me a story with ALL the details, not just the ones you want me to know, and let me figure it out on my own. I don;t want any media influencing the way I think.

It is 2 different things. The media may have a left or right leaning slant. But it is the government in power that filters down the propaganda that is delivered to the masses that is disseminated to the people.
