Because theres people out there that steal other peoples I.D.'s so if someone new your name and birth date or social security # they could still ur i.d. so they need a birth certificate to show proof that you are who you say you are. So practically for the protection of other peoples identity.

lol, he showed all the required paperwork for anyone to run for president. Politics is too much about power for him to have gotten elected. Too many people he was running against him would have challenged it, especially the Republican side.
