My friend ran off the road and hit a pole...?
My friend came to work with the front end of his car smashed in. When I asked what happened he said he slid off the road and hit a pole. I said, "it could have been worse, you could have hit a german", He turned and walked away, and won't talk to me anymore. Did I say something wrong? Should I have been more sympathetic?

Yeeeah.. i dont think saying 'you could have hit a german' made that any better..

Of course! You should've asked him whether-or-not he has comprehensive insurance!
