This is just from memory, im sure you could google better information but you're supposed to measure from the top of your inside leg down to your ankle (just as a tailor would) - that should give you the correct frame size for your legs. It doesnt work on height. When trying various frame sizes, your leg is not supposed to be fully extended when the pedal is at it's lowest setting and the saddle is low - there needs to be a slight bend at the knee. That is my answer then

Almost every bicycle manufacturer has different geometries for their bicycles. The best way to find out what size fits you best is to go to your local bike shop. Let them size you, and most shops will let you go for a quick 5 minute ride on the bike, and will just hold your ID while you ride it. Remember, their size is just a guess, so make sure you feel comfortable on that size. Different bikes are meant for different purposes, so make sure you tell them what type of bike you want and what your goal is. If you're looking for a specific brand, go to their website and find a local dealer near you to test ride.

It depends whether you're buying a road bike or a mountain bike. The mountain bike frame should be slightly smaller allowing you to get your feet down flat on the ground easier. The road bike should be slightly bigger based on you riding longer without obstacles, and getting the most out of each turn of the cranks by you extending your leg extended almost full out.

The method I use for measuring is from crotch to ankle bone, then add three inches if you're sizing for a road bike.

What is the size of your inseam. Divide by 2. Subtract it by 1 if you want a good space.

    Example... 32inseam /2....16 -1....resulting 15 tube size.

It depends on your inseam and type of bike. Here is a frame site. Select you bike type and complete the info. Road bikes consist of hybrids, drop bar, cross bikes, cruisers fixies etc.
