What does it mean when a woman says to a man, " you mean a lot to me"?

You are using the terms "woman" in a broad way. We are individuals and we all act differently. If I was to say that to you, it would mean nothing other than just that "it means a lot to me" but not in a romantic way and more like a figure of speech. To another woman it might mean just that - romantically. When in doubt, ask. It woudn't be out of line for you to ask her "why does it mean so much to you"?

It means she appreciates the offer to become god-mother of the guy's child and she cares about the child and father.
