I swear I've devoured every YA book ever written - any suggestions?

I'm desperate for some light relief from constant GCSE revision (and something to take the place of To Kill a Mockingbird); however, I'm having trouble finding something I haven't read before, or something that doesn't sound desperately pretentious and/or predictable. I'll read just about anything, but I'm not looking for a really heavy book with difficult themes, I want something that's really nice to read, but you don't have to think about too much. Recently I've stopped reading the synopsis of a story if it contains the words "vampire" or "werewolf" as I've read so many of the genre I think I could probably write a mind-numbing bestseller easily.

I adore books such The Hunger games, Artemis Fowl and The Mortal Instruments series but I'm also partial to Gossip Girl and Lauren Conrad's series of novels. I'm not bothered about the genre (anything besides real life stories) and I don't care about the time period it's set in as long as it's interesting and/or gripping.

I've read just about every YA book/series that's been popular for the last 5 years; from Twilight to the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness to Princess Diaries and a lot of less popular books like Kevin Crossley-Holland's Arthur Trilogy. I've read too many classic novels that range from Dickens to Ivanhoe and Lorna Doone. I've tried moving on to adult novels, but they do little to interest me as I'm not really the target audience, though I made it through The Notebook and a handful of Jodi Picoult's novels.

I'm desperate for something to read - If anyone can suggest a young adult novel I've possibly not read I would be insanely grateful.

Without giving away too much here are some of my favourite's.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner is about a boy who wakes up with amnesia in a giant maze and finds group of boys living there who have previously had the same experience and are trying to find their way out avoiding perils. (This slightly reminded me of Hunger Games when I read it)

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness is about a boy who lives in a town with no women just men and all the men have a form of telepathy so they can hear what each other is thinking every minute of every day until the boy finds something interesting in the woods which leaves him no choice but to go on the run (My favourite book of all time)

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion is a book set from a zombie's point of view on how living as a zombie can be until he falls for the girlfriend of one of his recent victims which alters his opinion on existence (I'm not a mythical creature love story type but I really enjoyed this book)

    Hope this helps (:

HUNGER GAMES are AMAZING!!! i'm OBBSESSED with them!!! but hese books are good to

Well Maze Runner was really good!!! It is about these teenage guys get put in this area surrounded by a maze and it has horrible creatures in the maze that surround it. It took a while for me to get into but was well worth it. (james dashner)

Maze Runners sequel (Scorch Trials)was very exciting the entire book, starting at page 3 it had already sucked me in!!!

I Am Number Four was really good!!! I am number four takes place on earth. there are these teens that have to be killed in order, because of a charm put on them before they left there home planet. Now there is people trying to kill them. several differences then in the movie. but both worth reading/watching (pittacus lore)

Unwind was pretty good! Its like after a second civil was and they said that instead of an abortion kids could be "unwound" where all there organs were donated. And this book is when the kids don't go with the plan. (neal shusterman)

Matched was pretty good, but not very well uhh deadly like the other books listed, kinda well chick flicky...usually i hate those books but that one was good. But this girl lives in a society where everything is chosen for them even who they will mary. but this girl accidently gets 2 matches and trys to decide. the one shes supposed or does she rebel? kinda intense in some parts i guess. (ally condie)

overall I would definatly read maze runner and scorch trails (they have to be read in order!)

ohh and i'm reading the girl who was on fire now. it kinda discuses the hunger games. its okay.

I'm like you :) After reading seemingly every young adult book I could get my hands on, I kind of branched off into adult novels, especially stuff by Lisa See and Jhumpa Lahiri. They're definitely more mature authors, but I think you'll like them; both are very talented women.

I'm currently reading The Bad Seed by William March (a thriller/horror/young adult novel), Incarceron by Catherine Fisher (a fantasy-thriller, I'd call it. It's amazing!), and Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Good luck finding a book :)

I liked books by Patrick Jones. Like Nailed, Chasing Tail Lights, Impulse, and I think there's a few more.

There was a series by Kate Brian I started reading... I own like 6 of the books, but they just keep coming out and I can't keep up.

I think the series is called "Private"

Why hello there, fellow Artemis Fowl fan. May I introduce you to Cadel Piggot, the titular protagonist of "Evil Genius" by Catherine Jinks?

It's one of my favorite trilogies. Jinks is brilliant with characterization. It's similar to AF in a "they both feature child geniuses as antiheroes" kind of way, but not quite so whimsical. A bit dark, highly entertaining, and features plot twists galore. My brain was about to melt by the end.
