If we are in a global warming then why have we had a long cold winter?

And why this morning in the middle of April is there frost and my heat is on most every day and night.?

common it is supposed to be spring. Are you sure we are not going into an Ice age?

Update:

I am seeing a lot of short sightedness here. appears to me that scientist in order to support their grants or lack of thoroughness are missing the point of resent volcanoes, releases of earths gasses, tsunamis and the fact that ice melting doesn't displace water levels. By the way has anyone heard of atmospheric displacement. Of course course when you add heat to one place the cold air will move to another and the opposite. The change in ocean warming streams from new fissures areas. Heavy dense oil spills slowing warm and cold currents. We need more prolific thinkers here not shortsighted self gratifying alarmists.

Update 2:

Sorry about miss spellings and grammar, I didn't proof read but I think you get the drift.

Update 3:

You folks That say everyone in the scientific community supports global warming is not true . I have met two geologists, a scientist and have read some articles questioning it from educated folks. I have rarely heard of any theory totally supported by all scientists.

Alan D you're dead on right. You can't win with some of these whack jobs. If its warmer than average outside they'll say it's Global Warming. If it's colder than average outside it's also Global Warming. Or the best one yet," Global Warming leads to Global Cooling". Well guess what, these fluctuations in temperature are what normal people with common sense call "Seasons". Some of the environmental hacks should go visit Al Gore in one of his 6800 sq ft mansions and see how he's dealing with global warming. Don't fall for the fuzzy science behind the Global Warming hoax.

Shortsightedness? Where did you come from? I guess you missed the entire debate here. It's not a bunch of scientific twits alone in their labs cooking up ways to get grant money. The ENTIRE scientific establishment of the world, ALL of the scientific organizations of the world, including now even the Petroleum Geologists, acknowledge the theory of AGW. If I take you literally,150 years of selfless work by researchers is now reduced to a bunch of miscreants can only see as far as their own d**ks? You guys are truly pathetic. The arctic is currently warming much faster than the rest of the globe. Four to six degrees Farenheit in the last 50 years. Look it up. Increased temperature means higher barometric pressure. Normally the circumpolar vortex is tight around extremely low pressure at the pole. Now it's not so tight, it even splits into lobes that move far south. So we have AGW, one of the manifestations being, for the present time, is harsher winters in the Northern Hemisphere. That's why it's called Climate Change. Next question.

    edit:

True, it's only 98% of climatologists and the vast majority from other disciplines. Then we get into the cranks and contrarians, which is fine, they have their place, but none of them, not a single one, ever, has come up with a credible alternative to AGW. They can pick and prod around the edges, try to turn some minor uncertainties into fatal flaws by taking specious rhetorical liberties; but undo a 150 year foundation with a breakthrough that undermines the theory? We're still waiting.

Meanwhile, please explain where the gigatons of carbon have gone, why the arctic is stunningly warmer, why all the glaciers are melting, and why the ocean has become more acidic. The problem with your argument is that AGW can do these things and you can't, so please put up or shut up.

And stop lying and trying to discredit the selfless dedicated researchers whose only goal is to provide the science we need to eneumerate these problems so we can move forward and solve them.

So, these couple of guys you ran into, where's that paper with the stunning breakthrough?

What one must understand is that you have some parts of the world cool off in a warming planet. Because I am no scientist I don't know the precise details, but the weather becoming more irregular is linked to it. Some people describe it as a two seasonal experience, going from winter directly into summer.

just wanna share this. after looking at some climate data on wikipedia it seems that the climate on earth has been changing since before man has been around. so climate change has been natural. not to say that what humans do has no effect on climate. of course everything we do has some kind of effect. however, the climate on earth has cooled and warmed and cooled and warmed..., like we know the ice age and then not ice age....

here in the southern hemisphere, the weather has just started to become cool. and we have been expecting winter since march. it has been a long wait. so your longer winter has meant our longer summer :)

The reason most climate scientist have adopted the term "climate change" is because people find it difficult to understand that "global" warming can effect local or regional weather towards conditions that we associate with both warming and cooling.

For example, most storms are the result of increased precipitation. Average rises in global temperatures will cause more water vapor to enter the atmosphere from the ocean, resulting in heavier cloud formation and stronger wind currents (which most people generally associate with cooling). This could result in cooler, stormy conditions along some coastal areas.

Some localized cooler weather doesn't change the fact that the average global temps are rising - And doesn't negate any of the associated negative impacts.

global warming is a scam. found documents to change numbers tell the story. Mexico is installing heat for the first time. Global warming.

Figures don't lie, but liars figure.

    What state are you in?

90 percent of glaciers are disappearing. India, China, and South America get their water from glacial runoff. And once those glaciers are gone, most of the world will be starved for water.

Because all of that cold white stuff that fell down and and piled up on the ground has been renamed global warming. If you see it, you can't deny it.

I heard a scientist a long time ago say a that global warming would cause Extremes in weather, not warming. I think he has been proved right.

It could be because global warming leads to global cooling....or at least in some regions. Snow and cold temps in April isn't all that uncommon though....at least not around where I live.

    "A Chilling Possibility

By disturbing a massive ocean current, melting Arctic sea ice might trigger colder weather in Europe and North America.

Global warming could plunge North America and Western Europe into a deep freeze, possibly within only a few decades.

That's the paradoxical scenario gaining credibility among many climate scientists. The thawing of sea ice covering the Arctic could disturb or even halt large currents in the Atlantic Ocean. Without the vast heat that these ocean currents deliver--comparable to the power generation of a million nuclear power plants--Europe's average temperature would likely drop 5 to 10°C (9 to 18°F), and parts of eastern North America would be chilled somewhat less. Such a dip in temperature would be similar to global average temperatures toward the end of the last ice age roughly 20,000 years ago."

"Expect more extreme winters thanks to global warming, say scientists

Scientists have established a link between the cold, snowy winters in Britain and melting sea ice in the Arctic and have warned that long periods of freezing weather are likely to become more frequent in years to come."
