You have a bike. Why are you squeezing on to a crowded train during rush hour?
Why don't you just bike to wherever you are going, and NOT displace, like 7 standing people, hmmmm??

On Caltrain, we have a separate car that's usually for people with bikes.
We also have carriers on local VTA busses to hold bikes.
My guess is that if someone is willing to buy a train ticket, they are going long distance. Like I would bike 2 miles to the train station, travel 50 on the train, then bike another mile at the other end to my destination.

Only reason to do this is if I already have to bike and can't leave it anywhere because it might get stolen, then I'm going to carry on with my bike and apologize for any inconvenience. Where can I leave my bike and rest assure it will not be taken without my consent? As if there were bike racks and I had a lock, AND I was going nearby.

All the reasons previous posters have given are valid ones.
All I can add is that it might be more courteous to use the train earlier or later than rush hour.

they probably have to get somewhere far and quicker than it would take a bike. in case u haven't noticed but trains go a lot faster than it is possible to bike, even for trained bike racers. DUH! that is such a dumb question
