Do new figure skates have to be sharpened?
I'm going to get new skates this weekend ( I had planned to go last week but couldn't go because my mom was sick) anyway.....I've only ever bought used skates in the past....so do you have to sharpen new skates or do they come sharpened.....i don't know if this info matters but I'm in freestyle 1 moving into 2 and I'm going to get Riedell 255ts......thanks :)

Most skates, strangely, don't come sharpened. They come "factory done" which is really hard to skate in. Some shops do sharpen them before you buy them so double check with where you bought them from.
If you bought them online they will almost definitely need to be sharpened.
Hope this helps :)

I would sharpen them just to be on the safe side. If the box tells you to sharpen them, then do so. It will probably take you four to six weeks to break in your skates. I always broke mine in earlier because I wore them around the house (with guards on) and I skated barefoot.

You probably won't need to sharpen them, most skate shops sharpen them for you. It will depend on the shop (some come sharpened some don't) so ask them if they do come sharpened. But if you are going to buy skates online they will need to be sharpened. Hope I helped :)

usually no because the place sharpens them for you when you buy them. But if you buy them at like a ice skating shop then they should sharpen them for you.But if you get them at like a modells then you probably will have to get them sharpened. I hope this helped you!

Yes, definitely. The store you buy them at usually sharpens them when they mount the blades, but check or ask to be sure.

Nope, because usually it comes sharpened at the place you buy it from. But really, it depends on whether you like sharp blades or blunt blades. Each person has their own preference, for example, I prefer sharp blades for jumps but medium-sharp blades for spins. :)
