Why is my social anxiety disorder taking over my life? 10 points for best answer!?

I'm 20 going on to 21 and I have no money, no close friends, never had a boyfriend and no close friends.

Please can anyone advise me on how to approach life. I'm sort of afraid to come out of my comfort zone (I'm extremely reserved) and I have hyperhidrosis which makes it even worse.

My mom had hyperhidrosis, and she got botox in her armpits. It worked and it was covered under out benefit plan.

As for the social anxiety, i have the same thing & i've learnt some strategies. I used to be too scared to go to job interveiws, or to walk into school alone or to go to a fast food counter alone.

First of all, everything is just a thought and it's youre choice weather to act upon it. so, if you're about to talk to a new guy, and you start internally freaking out, you just tell yourself, "This fear is just a thought, i can do this."

    It's all in your head.

Secondly, one thing that I had to learn was NOT EVERYONE IS STARING AT ME / WATCHING ME. This is VERY important to learn. Think about it - do you really think people are staring at your armpits? NO.

i think you need to step out of your comfort zone. i wasforced to because I got put into drama at school. I was really shy at first, but then I realized it was a drama class... everyone is going to look rediculous. I suggest doing something to step out of your comfort zone, weather it's going to the gym or joining a drama club. Take baby steps, it'll take time but you'll be a bombshell with work.

Awe... I know how you feel. You kind of just have to look at the bright side of things. People out there are doing much worse than you. You can make your life better if you really try hard. Try to get yourself involved in some free community program or something, that will help a ton if you force yourself to do it. Keep your head up, I promise things will get better one day soon. :)

Who needs money? Who needs friends? You know how you get rid of social anxiety? go be around as many people as you can. The more you hide the more its going to become a bigger and bigger problem till one day you will not be able to go outside or walk down the street. Social anxiety is a new term that perscription drug compaines invented. It doesnt exist. Its all in your mind. Its your thinking you have to change. There is no drug that will fix you. That is a lie invented by corporations to make more money. Its all how you think. Change the way you think and you will change your life.

You have to understand that all emotions are connected to your thoughts. for example if you thinnk of food you will feel hungry, or if you feel hungry you will think of food. They are majorly connected to the way you think. People that have all these emotional problems really have wrong thinking that you have made into a habit. You should look into hypnotherapy and learn to change the way you think into a more positive way. All fears of crowds and anxiety is all in your head and everyone else's head. You think its the outside environment that causes you to feel that way? its your thinking you have created that makes you feel thet way.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Make friends because it makes you uncomfortable. Think of it as a double-negative approach: You fear making friends, so you avoid people (negative) so to counteract that, you have to do what you fear and make a deliberate effort to talk to people (negative). It's your only option, either that or stay in the same place that you've been.

@ lightworker. I don't think you know what you're talking about. Social anxiety is very real and very serious, and from my understanding no drugs can have any impact.
