Atheists...Haters of God & Jesus...I have a question...WHY?

I am a believer in Jesus Christ...There isn't much in this life that I haven't experienced or am still being tested through that can change my mind or heart about God...I love Him and am thankful for Him and the sacrifice of His Son...I have loved and lost...I have had plenty and nothing...I have endured loneliness...Death...Drugs...Loss...

Abuse...Ridicule...Disease...And many other trials in my life...But I still love Him and believe in Him as He walked with me through these trials...I have put God and Jesus on the back burner and they still loved me through my life trials...Forgave me and lifted me back up...

SO what it is that made you believe the way you do...What one moment in your life changed your whole way of thinking???...TO THOSE WHO ARE SMART BUTTS...How about having the respect and just answer the question without attitude and slander...Or leave the question to those who will answer the question with their true life explanation...Thank You.

Update:

Wow...What responses...But Thank You...:-)

Update 2:

To some of you...I'm not asking this question to judge you or rate you with a thumbs up or down...I was just quizzative as there are alot of people who don't believe...Including some in my distant family...I only wanted to understand with respect your view of this and is why I asked for respect without slander or attitude...To those of you who answered respectively, thank you...I understand somewhat but as a believer, I can only understand to a point...I think you can understand that.

On behalf of those who were forced into their beliefs by religion...My apologies on behalf of those who are true believers who don;t use religion as a tool...But please realize that religion was made by man, not God...To those who have read some of the Bible...One must be in the Spirit to understand the meaning of the words as it was written by men who were in the Spirit and even still there are misinterpretations...Learning the Bible is a life ongoing event...

I only know my walk with God and Jesus on t

Update 3:

The Q & A system has flaws and left out some of the additional details...But what I wanted to add is...My walk with God is real to me...And I am far from being a weakling in life...But through all that I have endured, God gave me the grace to endure without becoming dark, abusive and mean hearted...So with that said, thank you again for your responses...I respect your decision although I can't help but pray for different as it comes with the territory...RESPECT.

Firstly, one cannot be an atheist and hate god and Jesus. You must believe something exists to hate it. That's like hating the Easter Bunny... pointless.

I have always been this way, nothing changed my way of thinking. All my life I just never believed the stories. It all seemed and still seems so far-fetched ot be real. Add the lack of anything I would accept as evidence, and there you go. I simply have never believed any of it, and there was no single moment that changed my mind. People aren't automatically born with the belief in any gods, they are taught about it, then they either believe it or they don't.

The Bible says that Jesus HAS a God who's his Father. (2 Cor. a million:3; Eph a million:3; Col a million:3; Mark 15:34; John 17:a million-3; etc.) additionally, EVEN IN HEAVEN, Jesus refers to HIS God and the call of HIS God. (Rev. 3:12) Jesus won't be able to be God if he's speaking approximately God as a separate individual. Nowhere in scripture can this is discovered that the father has a God. this is by the fact Jesus himself pronounced that the father is "the only actual God". (John 17:a million-3)

    Greetings,

They have no other choice. Without the saving grace that comes from God, there would be no one that will seek Him. If God does not provide grace to someone that person will naturally be darkened by their own sin and even if they DO try to gravitate towards a creator, they will profane Him by establishing idols like Buddha, Allah etc in His place. God predestined some to salvation as to not condemn His entire creation, and chose to leave others in their sin. Some people receive the gift of grace, and others receive justice. I do not get upset regarding atheists and their views of God because I know that they cannot choose God without illumination, but I hope that later-on God might save them by His grace.

You are operating under a false assumption. As an atheist I do not hate God or Jesus, to the contrary to me they simply are not real, and I cannot hate something/someone who does not exist. The word atheist just means someone who does not believe in any God. The reasons vary from one atheist to the next, but in my own case the reason that I have never converted to Christianity or Islam or Judaism or Brahmanism any other belief in a God is simply that I have never encountered any evidence to support the claims that the existence of such a being is anything more than wishful thinking. This is not intended as slander (or rather libel) or any other sort of insult it is simple honesty. If you disagree that is your prerogative - there is no need for name calling or insults, I simply have never been convinced to believe as you do.

First I'd like to say I don't hate god or Jesus. Nothing to hate. They don't exist.

There wasn't one moment that changed my mind. It was a gradual process. I didn't wake up one day and decide to become an atheist. It was a culmination of things, none of which had to do with a bad childhood, abuse, someone dying, or any other event that is typically associated by theists with "becoming "an atheist.

So the only honest answer to your question is that there's just no proof, or even evidence. That is also the reason I remain an atheist.

i asked why too much. and realized my belief was based on my up bringing. then i considered the other religions of this world and reailized they were all equally unfounded.i wish i could have faith like yours but i am a man of reason and even though it causes stress with my family, i can not abandon reason to worship what i do not believe. i wish i could but i cant.

i have a question how do you know you are worshiping the right god the right way? there are so many gods and religions out there with out searching like i did how do you know for sure?

I don't hate God or Jesus. I hate those who use religion as a justification for bigotry, violence, and ignorance.

There are a millions reasons not to believe. For me, the initial realization came when I saw people claiming to be the moral authority through their god doing clearly immoral acts. With more reading, I see more and more clearly that the common vision of god makes no sense (like the problem of evil).

I was a believer, but I began to see how man-made it all was - church, religion, mythology, and gods - and I see no evidence that there's anything real about it. There was no "one moment" of which I'm aware...and I'm happy about that because a well-considered position doesn't take "one moment" to arrive at.

I looked and looked and looked and I saw no reason to believe - no evidence of any gods, no god-shaped holes in the world. I only saw reason after reason for primitive and fearful people to have made gods up, and reason after reason why religions persist in societies.

I've continued to look with an open mind, and I have never seen anything that would prompt me to change my mind.

I answered your question respectfully...now how about you ask a question without "attitude and slander"? We aren't "haters" of your god and Jesus. We just don't believe in them, and being told that we don't believe because we're "haters" is actually quite offensive.

Why see life as a 'test' ?

Life just is what you chose to make it.

Why believe in gods and jesus they are iron-age fairy stories. The whole jesus sacrifice thing is ridiculous why couldn't your god just 'forgive'. Its like a judge letting a criminal off a crime then beating up his own son as payment. Quite frankly ridiculous.

Why not take responsibity for your own life instead of using make-believe crutches.

Atheists aren't haters of God & Jesus, they just don't believe in God. You can't hate what doesn't exist.

I'm impressed that despite the horrors of your past you maintain your faith. If that's what gets you through the day, good for you.

Personally, I could see the opposite being true. Knowing all the horror and abuse in life, how could someone believe in an omnipotent, caring being who supports this?

Look at it this way. If God is omniscient, then he knows about all the terrible things in life. If God is omnipotent, he has the power to do something about it. If he is both omniscient and omnipotent, the only rational conclusion is he is uncaring. If he is both omniscient and caring, he must be powerless. If he is omnipotent and caring, he must be unable to see reality. God cannot possibly be omniscient, omnipotent and caring.
