What do I need to get on my final to pass?

I am going to have to assume that the other half of your grade will be the 88.5% since you did not make it really clear. With that assumption, here is a simple algebraic problem to help you find the minimum grade you have to make to pass:

Let x = the grade you get on your final exam

So, both x and 88.5 will count equally on the course grade. This gives you the equation:

(x + 88.5) / 2 > 74.9 (you want a grade larger than 74.9)

Multiply both sides by 2 to get: x + 88.5 > 149.8 Now subtract 88.5 from both sides:

x > 61.3 This is the smallest grade you can make on the final.

min grade to pass is 74.3 would avg out to 70.02

think your math is off a bit

74.3+88.5% × 50%
