I think my computer is infected, what can I do for a quick fix?
I went to this shady website to watch tv shows online for free because my friend recommended it (letmewatchthis.com) and while I was streaming the vid, all these popups started happening. My friend said that was normal and just ignore them til the episode was over. I did, and now I can't go a whole minute with something else popping up telling me that I have an infected program and that I am currently being hacked and my personal information is at risk. I'm running the newest version of windows (I'm actually a mac user but my screen fried and I don't have the money right now for a new one) on an HP G72, ask if you need any additional information, any help at all would be fantastic!

You should have protection.
I didn't on my laptop for 2 years but it's kay.. I has now.
Buy a anti-virus protection, like avg will do i guess.
They have free one thats decent.
You're usually a mac user?
You need anti software on your pc.
I used a mac growing up 10-15 years cuz my dad..
And they don't get viruses or need all that.
But you should have some for your computer.
that software can scan and remove the problem. probably.

You need to download Mal-ware Bytes, update it and then run a slow scan offline. (Disconnect your machine from the internet.) Malware bytes is pretty good at detecting these types of viruses and spyware and removing them. Restart, and after you remove the infection, run a windows update on your machine.

by now the spyware and all the rogue antiviruses might've doomed your computer into eternal damnation but if all hope is not lost immediately go get malwarebytes and do a quick scan first, once the quick scan is done remove the viruses it found, by now your computer will be kind of safe for a while, and now you have the time to do a full scan (it might take a few hours atleast up to 5 hours but it will be worth it) so it can completely remove any viruses that hid during the quick scan, once its done remove those viruses and you will be all good
If malwarebytes failed to work that means the virus that means your computer is doomed and you will need to reinstall windows.
