universities looking at gcse retakes from 2012 onwards?

i am a bit concerned at maybe (or are they) universities might or may already are asking for retakes in gcse. i know for 2012 entries, they will be looking for a-level retakes but not sure if gcse retakes or not?

could someone please tell me if the top universities will be looking at gcse retakes from 2012 entries onwards? i intend to study engineering at university.

    GCSE's are just a stepping stone to the next level; college level, most universities don't look at GCSE's when a potential student is applying.
