Information on Fender Acoustic Guitar?
Today I met a man with a Fender Acoustic guitar. I think it said "Stratocaster" on it, but I know that's their electric guitar. He said it was built between 1961-64 and he knew this because it was the "broomstick" built inside it to support it. It was in good condition (but I say that having zero experience in grading old guitars) with a serial number of 0053x. As soon as I saw it, I had to ask him about it.. it was pretty neat. I'm just looking for some information on it. Is the broomstick make it collectable? What's the actual model name of it? How many of this type were made? Sorry, no pictures!
Thanks for your input. I actually was able to determine it is a Fender King. Not sure why I remembered 'stratocaster' being on it, maybe i just am so used to seeing it there. I saw a picture of one online and remembered it saying "King" on the s/n plate on the back and everything else matched up also. Apparently he did have some information wrong as they didn't start making them until 1963. thanks anyway!

Fender acoustics from the 60's are not very collectible, which is why Fender didn't make them very long.
They had a lot trouble with the bolt on neck.
also, they weren't made from 61-64
Leo never made any acoustics,
those are from the CBS years
the fact that it says Stratocaster on it, makes it very suspicious, since they never made an acoustic Strat.

Hello there,
I am guessing what you saw was a Fender Stratocoustic. I do not think those are collectible. They were pretty inexpensive guitats.
