Why won't microphones work properly on my laptop?
For some reason every time I try to record music on my laptop, using the built in microphone or not, it will only record my voice and mute out the other sounds. I was thinking that this might be caused by the software(YouCam), but I'm not too sure. If so, then what software will allow me to record music from the microphone? I would like to record my guitar for FL Studio.

Built-in laptop microphones are not designed for recording music. Neither is the sound card in your laptop. If you want to record music on your computer and you want to sound this good ... http://www.youtube.com/user/megannicolesite?blend=... - Then, you need to get an audio/midi USB computer interface like the NEW Avid Mbox Mini - http://www.guitarcenter.com/Avid-Pro-Tools-LE-Mbox... - This product has a built in broadcast ready sound card and it comes with Pro Tools recording software. Then, you need a really good condenser microphone like the RODE NT1-A - http://www.guitarcenter.com/Rode-Microphones-NT1-A... - You will also need a mic stand and cables. That's Pretty much it.
There are some extras you might want to make your recordings sound more professional and that is a BOSS VE-20 vocal performer and if you have an electric guitar, it is best to record through a guitar effects processor and bypass your amplifier completely.
Good Luck to you!
