After a serious injury I have, how should I go back into dancing?

My doctor told me I'm going to have to take the summer off from ballet because of a serious hip injury. I'm going to be taking physical therapy, but when I start up dancing again in the fall, I don't want to be behind, or fall back, considering I was doing well before the injury. When I start back up, how should I go about becoming better again for auditions?

This year I had to stop dancing for a couple months because I fell and sprained my ankle seriously. When I came back I danced as I felt comfortable. I didnt push myself to hard for a couple of classes. Slowly you you become stronger and get back to dancing.

I've hurt my knee when I took ballet, and had to do all the same stuff as in physical therapy and all that. What I did was during the "healing" I tried to find stretches and work outs that were light but still help me stay where I needed to for classes. I work out seven days a week, and when I got hurt I would go for walks in the evening to help make my knee stronger, but didn't do anything to stressful to the injury. And when it slowly started to feel better I would go back to working out seven days a week for an hour in the morning and at night, on light stretching again nothing to put to much strain on my knee. If you sit and relax for to long on an injury it heals great, but when you go back to dancing it feels as if you never stretched before and you have to start from the very beginning again. So I would recommend going for a walk in the evenings, and when that feels good to do, start by doing small not to stressful stretches in the morning and evenings till your doctor says okay to get back into a more vigorous routine. Hope this helped

When you are allowed to, I would think about a yoga or pilates class to slowly work the muscles and get them used to it again. Then your best bet might be to take a level of class 1 below where you are at right now, so you get used to the moves again without putting extra pressure on yourself. If you feel that you are ready for the next level after a month or so of class, talk to your teachers about changing classes back up to where you were.

You should dance but not like REALLY fast or harmful or you could get another injury even harmful.
