Brides - what is your card box like?
Hello ladies -
Just wondering, I know the ecomony is tough and every one is saving money, but... What would you spend on a custom made card box that is made to look like a wedding cake and made personal with your color choices to match your wedding colors? 50.00? 100.00? (Quality made, not some peice of crap)
Thanks

A card box is not something I care about too much because it's not a keepsake that I'm going to treasure after the wedding. I would make one myself, or ask my crafty friend to do, and I definitely wouldn't spend more than a few bucks on it. It would be really easy to get an inexpensive vintage bird cage on Etsy or Ebay, spray paint it in white or in my wedding color, and use that as a card receptacle.

Considering I don't care for wedding cake, I wouldn't use a box shaped like one at my wedding. I had apple crisp which our guests loved, because honestly out of 25+ weddings I've been to I've never had a decent piece of cake. I make better cake at home than caterers do.
I borrowed my card box from a friend because I thought it was idiocy to pay $50 for such a thing (good thing she had ;) It was just a nice ivory box with cushioned lid that opened, but if she hadn't offered it I would have just used any old basket I have in the basement.

teh would be easy. Cut two circles of cardboard, and a long rectangle and use taple to make a cake shape. Wrap the whole thing as if it were a present. If you want layers make several more in appropriate sizes. Cut a hole someplae for hte cards to be dropped in. At the end of the wedding take the whole thing home, break it open and enjoy! I make mine the shape of a mailbox. It costs next to nothing.

to be honest, i would probably pay a crafty friend. i'd buy the supplies and maybe lunch. the only possible way i can see it costing $50 - is if it were glass or something other than paper and super fancy. like you said, times are tough!
