Why is Steam downloading this game from the internet instead of the disc?
Fallout New Vegas. I've played it before. Taken it off my computer and now I want to play it again. Steam acknowledged my account and code, etc but instead of just downloading it straight from the disc it wants to download the whole game from the Steam website. This is very annoying as that'll take about an hour and is completely uneccesary. How do I get around this bug?
First time I played it (last year) it downloaded from the disc. Now, with the disc in my computer, it only wants to download from the site which will take forever! There must be a way around that.

You can't. That's Steam for you. Yeah I have the same issue, it takes forever!!!!

did you put the disc back in your computer and installed it straight from the disc? That doesn't make any sense. I have a ton of Valve retail games and have no problems installing them straight from the disc. The only time online downloading comes into play is when the game needs to download patches.

its not realy a bug but... all you have to do is download steam then the game.
