Being a drug addict or an alcoholic doesn't make you a disgrace. At least half of society would thus fit into that category. Personally, it seems to me that Kate is acceptable. She's a decent human being and so far has not been recorded making any vicious comments about anyone else. She minds her tongue, from what I understand, and that alone sets her far above most people.
