Is Nacho Beristain the only one...?

that gets it? Everyone complains that if Marquez fought at Welterweight, Pacquiao would have all the advantages, but that's not true, because essentially, they'd weigh the same come fight night because Pacquiao has never weighed in at the welterweight limit AND he doesn't gain much weight come fight night. The fight could at 160lbs and they'd be the same size. Marquez was around 144-145 come fight night against Katsidis. Pacquiao was 147-148 against Margarito.

Does anyone else feel the weight limit isn't a factor if Pacquiao and Marquez fight?

Update:

Hey Vino, my point is that regardless of what weight the fight is for, Marquez and Pacquiao would be the same weight come fight night. Against Katsidis (where Marquez looked great), Marquez weighed in at 135 and gained 9lbs come fight time, weighing in at 144. Yes, Marquez looked horrible at when he weighed in at 142 against Money, but my point is, if Marquez wants to weigh 135 and come in at 144 come fight night, he'll STILL be the same weight as Pacquiao during the fight.

Update 2:

Yup, I agree with you Vino that the weight isn't the issue and it's more styles. Rag made a good point that we can say Pac will kill Marquez all we want but he needs to prove it. Truth is, Marquez did give him two hells of a fight and he has unfinished business with Marquez.

    Because it looked like Marquez had no business at welterweight, when he tested the waters in his debut against Floyd, he was outclassed by the better and bigger fighter that time and that was may be the reason why many people think that Marquez will not give a competitive fight against the Pacman at welterweight. Count me in to those who believe that weight will not be a factor here but IMHO it will be, I said this before a clash of styles - and maybe JMM's daddy time. Although Marquez was outboxed by Floyd, it is because of their styles. JMM was forced to be the aggressor that time while Mayweather remained as the counter puncher-slick boxer type (see the KD round, a counter punch). In fairness ti Floyd, it is the probable reason why he did not KO JMM because of styles. On the other hand, Pacquiao's style is somehow seem to be tailor made for Marquez, in their 2 bouts they had a competitive fight because not only Marquez has the style of punishing Manny, he HAD Pacquiao's numbers.

    Now, again if ever Manny and JMM cross their paths once and for all it will be a different scenario, people here keeps telling that Manny will now defintely KTFO JMM. I agree with that, due to Pacquiao's improvement with his right hand together with his perfected fencing-style footwork. But quoting our friend ragsdefender, it is not enough to say that Pacquiao can beat this Mexican guy because he had improved since then etc etc where in fact in our minds we have to SOMEHOW need to see that if Manny really improve his style and beat JMM for good.

    Again, if ever they fight in November weight will not be an issue whether it is in Jr WW or in WW, what will be the main issues are two things;

    1. Did Pacquiao really improved his boxing skills and once and for all prove to us he is the better man or that fight will just tell us that styles do make fight?

    2. Will the age of JMM catch him while facing Manny?

    For me, it is more of the number 1. If Manny did really improv he will beat JMM, if not JMM already had Pacquiao's numbers and will give us another helluva 12 round fight.

    Good luck!

    Add:

    Agree, for me regardless of the weight division they will fight in, JWW or WW, IMO the outcome of the fight will be the same. Weight will not be an issue here but styles. Also, Pac I believe needs to eat much just to maintain his weight as a welter. But again, weight will not be an issue. Manny may come down to 140 (actually he said he can do 135) but at 147 he might have additional power in his hands.

    Manny Pacquiao started at Flyweight while Juan Manuel started fighting as per record shows, at Featherweight. It just so happen that Manny decided to move up to Welterweight unlike him who stays at Featherweight until recently. To even put into consideration that they fought at Featherweight where the controversial decision happened. It is the thoughts that if a Flyweight can move to Welter, I don't see a point why a Feather can not. Is it the body frame (I don't think so) or just trying to have the most advantage? It is known in the boxing industry that fighters or boxers shed the poundage by starving themselves, cut on their liquid intake supported with strenuous workouts to get rid of the weight they believed they don't need in fighting to be in most possible position to win and have the advantage but these concepts was "change" and disproved by Manny Pacquiao by doing the reversed. He doesn't have a control diets and in fact being over fed and burn the calories through workout.

    When Manny fought Antonio Margarito, he weight at 144# at the weigh-in in the catchweight of 150# and come fight time, Margarito out weight him by 19#s. If Manny can fight a fighter that outweight him that much, I don't see any reason why JMM can not since like what he said that he beat Manny. The contracted weight only goes to the upper limit but not on the lower one. He can weight as low as a Flyweight but not more the 147# and this one goes to Manny too. Nacho is in the business long enough to know what it is.

    Nacho, i assume could choose to avenge himself by way of Manny. He felt they have been given cheated considering that Floyd did no longer meet the agreed weight. He is conscious, if there is any fighter who had a typical probability of thrashing could, this is gonna be the Pacman. Accuracy could be desperate good after March 13.

    I get it. I think this fight should have happened a long time ago. It will be a shame if it never happens (for the 3rd time).
