Can puppies of the same age and gender play together?

A couple of weeks ago I got a new puppy...at the same time my mom and sister also got puppies from the same litter. I have been reading online and read a few pages that mentioned puppies of the same age and gender should not play together. That they will develop a "pack mentality" and would be more likely to attack. Does anyone have any more info on this?

Update:

We all live seperately....puppies are not being raised in the same home.

That's not true. Puppies who are the same age and raised together in the same home can pick up this behavior though. Just make sure to socialize the puppies with other dogs as well, not just each other.

If you mean that you now have three puppies from the same litter growing up in the same house then this is not good.

If however, they live in separate houses, and are trained separately, and just get together sometimes then that is absolutely fine. I do hope it is the latter, as growing up in the same house together can end up a problem.

Umm.. You and ur mom bought dogs or wolves? Lol. Ofcourse they can play! It's the person that makes the dog and they will not develop anything I bought 2 puppies of same age from different breeders and they are great together .. Best friends and extremely loving with me and my family. They fight over our attention but other then that, my chihuahuas are so close.

They should play together just fine. You need to socialize your puppy as much as possible so it doesn't become aggressive towards other dogs. Gender shouldn't matter, but use caution when you introduce him to a dog that is much older and larger.

Yeah don't believe everything you read, especially things like that.

Of course they can play together. That's perfectly fine. What that article is talking about is about dogs who are pretty much left on their own with ZERO human interaction maybe beyond feeding, are untrained and allowed to run at large.

i've got continually had a multidog residing house, as much as 9 at a time, and that i hit upon 2 or greater men paintings in simple terms advantageous if all are neutered, yet in case you're transforming into 2 intact men, you're soliciting for hardship. including a woman could paintings too, even in the journey that your male could could desire to be neutered or the female could could desire to be spayed or like your mom reported, domestic canines could result.

I think as long as you have the puppy around both male&female growing up, it should be fine.
