Is Bin Ladin's death the final repudiation of torture?

In my reading of Bin Ladin's death, his whereabouts were determined through intelligence gathered by detainees (either at Guantanamo or not I'm not sure) and that Obama gave the word to pursue this intelligence last August.

In very basic terms, waterboarding failed to produce the intelligence that led to his death. Presumably, traditional and proven interrogation methods produced the intelligence that led to his death.

So my question: Is Bin Ladin's death the final repudiation of torture as a reliable method of gathering intelligence? Can people finally acknowledge that there are better methods?

How ridiculous, you have no idea what questioning methods were used to get information at GITMO. Our people there are professionals, and should be left to do whatever is necessary to protect American lives, and interests.

i think its all just a scam thy made up to show that they cant get out smarted by a guy overseas. Its been how long since we first heard about him and they all of a suddenfound him??? Ill believe it when i see it. I think we just got tired of looking and people throwing it up in our faces that we havent found him so we decided to make a plan to announce that we found him. why would they just bury him in the sea. You know theres like a milllion people that look just like him out there and i would put up a fight if i was going down. My opinion, epic fail
