  • When to send a letter of reference for a job?

I need to know when to submit a letter of reference for a job.

Should I send it in with my application?

Should I take it to the interview and submit it then?

I tried searching for this but all I found were tips on how to write them.

  • Will we ever see Mitt Romney again?

Now that Mitt Romney has lost the Presidential election, will we ever see him again?

I mean, Gore had been Vice President and that let him go on his climate crusade.

John Kerry was a senator, so he just went back to that after he lost.

John McCain was a senator too so he just went back to that after he lost.

Since Mitt Romney is neither of those things, will we ever see him again? He is a loser and too moderate to really have a future at the national level. And I really doubt the Obama administration will ask him to join the administration in some fashion because his campaign said some unforgivable things.

I have to say, even though I don't support him, I kind of miss him now that the election is over!

  • USB into Stereo Receiver?

I have an old stereo receiver that I would love to somehow connect to a USB thumb drive that has around 400 mp3s on it.

I know that they make "docks" for ipods and other MP3 players, but is there such a thing to go between a USB drive and the old receiver?

I've noticed that a lot of the new stereo receivers don't have USB ports either. It seems you have to buy a home theatre receiver for this feature. I just want a stereo receiver to play music, not watch movies through/have surround sound or anything like that.

  • What is Newt Gingrich saying?

He keeps saying that Obama is "Sollolinski" and I had no idea what he was saying. So I googled it and apparently he's saying "Saul Alinsky." Well I had no idea who the heck he was talking about so I looked it up.

Apparently he was some influential community organizer that managed to do a lot of good work...

So... Why is Gingrich comparing Obama to someone the vast majority of people have probably never heard of? I consider myself fairly knowledgeable in US history and political science and I had no clue.

Furthermore, he helped poor black people in the ghettos get better housing and spoke out against racism and promoted civil rights... Maybe he's just trying to draw a contrast? Obama like to help people and bring them together.. Newt likes to segregate and toss out all these code words about black people to white audiences?

  • What if a Canadian is pulled over in Alabama?

I've been watching a lot of news stories about Alabama's "papers please" laws, including the story this week about the Mercedes Benz executive who was arrested.

The reason I ask specifically about Canada is because Canadians are the only nationality (that I'm aware of) that do not receive any stamps or immigration documentation (like an I-94) upon entry into the USA.

So, if at one of these "license checks" in Alabama a Canadian is pulled over and they show their Canadian driver's license, then what? The officer asks to see their passport and any immigration documents. Well, guess what, there's no stamp or any immigration documents to be found. How does the officer confirm immigration status? He can't!

So then what? Does the officer proceed to arrest the Canadian even though they probably entered legally? Even if they contact ICE, they probably won't be able to actually confirm that the Canadian is legal since no entry documents were ever issued.

  • Do those external fans really work (PS3)?

I have an old 60 gig system and it suffered the YLOD from overheating. I managed to fix it myself and I don't want it to overheat again. I had bought a 3rd party external fan for it years ago that snaps over the back vent.

Ebay also has the kind that plugs into the front USB and blows into the front vents.

My question is, do these really work? Will they protect my PS3 from overheating again or are they just junk?

  • Is Bin Ladin's death the final repudiation of torture?

In my reading of Bin Ladin's death, his whereabouts were determined through intelligence gathered by detainees (either at Guantanamo or not I'm not sure) and that Obama gave the word to pursue this intelligence last August.

In very basic terms, waterboarding failed to produce the intelligence that led to his death. Presumably, traditional and proven interrogation methods produced the intelligence that led to his death.

So my question: Is Bin Ladin's death the final repudiation of torture as a reliable method of gathering intelligence? Can people finally acknowledge that there are better methods?

  • Why does the Conservative Party of Canada run commercials ALL THE TIME?

I'm always seeing commercials about how terrible Michael Ignatieff is or how great Stephen Harper is. Why does the Conservative Party run all these commercials when we aren't even close to an election!? They run them ALL YEAR LONG! Aren't there laws against running campaign commercials in the off season? No other party does this!?

  • What is the best way to quit a job?

I started in an occupation that had nothing to do with what I took in Univeristy just because there were no other jobs out there, and I'm finding that I absolutely can't stand it. It's not at all what my heart wants to do and I go in miserable every day. It's to the point where I can't just put up with it until something better comes along.

The people I work with really like me and think I'm doing well and like the job. Unfortunately, I hate it! What is the best way to quit? When is the best time to quit? I desperately need to walk away with some references.

  • How do I get a disc out of a broken PS3?

I just had the "flashing red light of death" on my 60GB PS3 while I was in the middle of game of GTA 4 last night. It still is broken and doesn't seem like it's going to be fixed any time soon. I'd atleast like to get my disc out so I don't have to spend even more money on another copy of GTA4. Is there anyway to get it out?

The ps3 only stays on for 2 seconds until the red light starts flashing. There isn't enough time for it to spit the disc out.

  • Why doesn't my LG XENON save photos to memory card?

I just got a memory card last week for my LG Xenon (which is a total POS up to this point) to save pictures on. Today I tried taking a picture, and while it was saving it came up as "Error" and nothing happened. I tried this about 30 times and everytime I got this error message.

How do I fix this? It seems like every week there is a new problem with this phone.

  • Is it lame to wear a short sleeve dress shirt with suit and tie?

I'm a young guy and I'm wondering if it's lame or a fashion faux pas to wear a short sleeve dress shirt with a tie and suit in the summer time?

I feel like its something only Dennis Franz on NYPD Blue does...
