Regardless of my personal fears, regarding some breeds, I KNOW it is not a BREED issue as much as it is an OWNER issue. I feel to ban certain breeds takes away our rights as citizens in this country. To take away such a simple right as to what kind of dogs we can own, will lead to other more severe laws being passed later. If we as a country become so passive as to allow our freedoms to be dictated and taken away, the GOV will simply go on to take more and more away from us in the name of PROTECTING the people ect. Dog ownership may seem small to some, but it a choice, and I do not want my choices taken away from me. I do not agree with the GOV being able to restrict ANY CHOICE I have as an American. I want to be free to think for myself, and choose what I feel is best for me.

There are other things to do. In my opinion make the dog laws tougher on those who have a dog who bites or attacks. So many owners get off scott free, and who pays the price? The dogs! And now future dog owners my be forced to conform to a GOV opinion on what they can and can't own? That to me is unconstitutional, and I fear what other limitations our GOV will put on us from there. Make dog owners responsible for what their dog does. Make jail time part of the punishment for those who own dogs that kill. Make the punishments stick. Punish the owners, not the dogs, not future owners and maybe people will learn to be more responsible if they fear they will be held accountable.

It is wrong, it should not be against the dog but against the owner. The more a person does with there dog the better it will be trained and instead we are making it harder and harder to do more with our dogs.
