Is it easier to come out to family and friends as bi, or as gay?

Is one more socially acceptable than the other? Is it better to come out as bi, to break the ice sort of, and then after they're accustomed to it, then to tell them you've discovered you are actually gay?

No. It's much better to tell people exactly what you are from the beginning, so you don't have to come out twice. I'm bisexual, and I don't see one as more "acceptable" than another; if someone is going to not accept you for being gay, they're probably not going to accept you any more for being bi.

I think it's better to come out with the truth from the start. If you go around saying you're bisexual and then say you're gay it's gonna kinda seem like you're confused which i'm sure it's not the case. So I would definitely come out as in gay.

That's what I did and it worked for me. ^_^ It's up to you though to decide whether or not it will work out better for you!
