Ramadan: would the Quran be..?
..a respectable placeholder image for The Prophet Mohammad?
for example, just to share some things he said under the image.
Any other recommendations would help. Thank you.
Will: like in the description box of a FB photo, or as
something under a motivational poster - things like that.
Rosy: how is a person supposed to know the difference between the authentic and non-authentic quotes? if you could share any sources that help with such, that would be fantastic.

Do you mean using the Quran as an Image.. and then Quotes below it to outline Prophet's Sayings? If so, then this is fine inshAllah. Just make sure that the sayings you use are indeed authentic, and not just from any site on the web.
There are strict rules on what is authentic and what is not for narrations.
-------
As long as you do not try to make a fake image of any prophet (we respect them all), then it should be fine InshAllah.
====================
Ok, with regards to Authenticity of Hadiths (Narrations).. Muslims agree upon 2 Books of completely Authentic Hadiths Narrations. These 2 Books are:
- Sahih Bukhari
- Sahih Muslim
You can find these 2 collections online here: (Just Click links Bukhari or Muslim)
http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement...
They are divided in topics relating to the narration.
Alternatively... You can also search for certain words.. etc.. using the search Hadith Link in the above link as well.
As for other Narrations that do not belong to these 2 books... They could be authentic.. or unauthentic. The people who would know this would most likely be scholars or proficient in arabic to use arabic hadith sources by different hadith (narration scholars).
Your Best Bet is:
==============
- Verify the Narration Exists in Sahih Bukhari or Sahih Muslim (If Yes = It's Authentic).
- If it does not exist in Sahih Bukhari or Sahih Muslim .. But you wish to use it, then you can Send it to me (I'm an Arabic Speaker), and I will verify it in the Root Source of Hadiths with Authentic Status.. and Information on Who is the Scholar who Authenticated it.. OR.. What is wrong with it if it is not Authentic.
***Let me know if you will Email me the Narrations.. Because that way I will remind myself to check my Email. I can quickly give you the Authenticity of all the Narrations if you shoot me an Email with them...
Hope this Helps :)

a lot of people also use a picture of the green dome of masjid al nabawi which is above his grave too,

or just arabic calligraphy of the word "muhammad".
http://www.ispi-usa.org/muhammad/muhammad.jpg
or the stamp of muhammad(saw):

hmm I don't understand your question.. what do you mean "share some things he said under the image."
edit: ok I see.. I see nothing wrong with doing that, I believe it would actually be a positive thing to do... (but I could ofc be wrong)..
