I believe they preferred that he be brought in dead. A trial would be expensive in terms of the security
requirements.

No. It's clearly the best option. I must say I am sick and tired of this even being an issue. What about a gun battle are people not understanding. The SEALs were being fired upon. bin Laden was a terrorist who could have had a weapon or bomb concealed. If he was resisting or coming toward them who in their right mind would not shoot. Part of their mission was to stay alive. This is war.
I know my answer is not going to be popular with you. Capture would have meant housing him and providing him with a trial. The people who died on 9/11 did not have any options.

Has practically everyone gone insane?
Shooting the alleged Bad Guy is not justice.
Killing untold numbers of innocent bystanders in the hopes of killing one criminal is not justice.
Military Personnel do not dictate Law & Order. Civilians do. Or else your country is in enormous trouble!
That is what happened in my country- and it took a quarter of a Century to get Democracy back.
This is not funny.
I am given to understand that Americans are poorly educated in history.
That explains why they do not recognize the road they have voluntarily elected to be on.

No. The police and soldiers have killed a lot of people who resisted arrest.

The mission was capture or kill. Osama put up resistance. The mission ended successfully.
