Incandescent is way cheaper (probably can find nearly free a garage sales). But they use about 46 watts for a 100 light string (42 feet long), so x 2 = 92 watts, initial cost (used) $ 5.00. LEDs are about $19.00 for 23 feet (70 LEDs) using about 4 watts. So for 65 feet, times 3 = 12 watts at an initial cost of $57.00.

  • I personally would go with incandescent lighting. The bottom line is in general they are more comfortable. They give off a small amount of heat which is nice during the winter. And they also are a yellowish color which is natural like the sun. LEDs give off a painful pure white color. In the long run, incandescent lights are more expensive. You have to pay for changing the bulbs and a slightly higher electricity bill. They also are a fire hazard; you should do fine as long as you keep the cobwebs off of them.
