    You can only if you receive a pardon from the Governor of the state where the Felony occurred and have all of your rights restored.

    What most people don't understand or wont take the time to read the law is a felon, under the right conditions, can own a firearm. Anyone that says something is against the law without posting the law is just telling their opinion.

    Under federal law a felon can not own a firearm or ammunition in "possess in or affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition; or to RECEIVE any firearm or ammunition which has been SHIPPED or transported in interstate or foreign commerce".

    This means if you are living in Texas you can not own a firearm that has not been made in Texas. There are many custom firearms manufacturers in every state. Who knew about Red Jacket till The Discovery Channel made a show about them. The person that manufactured the firearm can not sell one to you, but an individual that does not know you are a felon can. This makes it extremely hard for a felon to legally possess a firearm but to say that NO FELON can legally own a firearm is not exactly right.

    US Code Title 18 Section 922

    (g) It shall be unlawful for any person—

    (1) who has been convicted in any court of, a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;

    to ship or transport in interstate or foreign commerce, or possess in or affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition; or to receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

    Under State law you can own a firearm 5 years after you finished your punishment (parole, probation, etc...). And only at your place of residence.

    Texas Penal Code Chapter 46 Section 46.04

    UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

    (a) A person who has been convicted of a felony commits an offense if he possesses a firearm:

    (1) after conviction and before the fifth anniversary of the person's release from confinement following conviction of the felony or the person's release from supervision under community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision, whichever date is later; or

    (2) after the period described by Subdivision (1), at any location other than the premises at which the person lives.

    Discover how to get your ex back with simple text message: http://getyourexback.checkhere.info/

    Many girls break up with their significant others, is because they need time to figure things out. Don't take it personally, if you want her back, you have to show her you can help her. If you love her then you'll let her go, that's it. Not everybody who you date in high school you end up staying with, the chances are extremely unlikely. So if she doesn't want to, then you need to let her go.

    No. You are barred from owning a gun or ammunition for life under federal law.

    The only way to own a gun is to have the record expunged by petitioning the sentencing court, and to have your rights restored by the court.
