Jews, a serious question for once?

Which books in the "old testament" of the Bible are considered holy scripture to Jews? Obviously the Torah, but do Jews believe the histories and prophesies are true as well? (stories of King David, Solomon, the prophesies of Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, etc)

Thanks!!

Update:

Is every book in the Christian "Old Testament" included in the Hebrew Bible?

Please note, there is a reason that "old testament" is in quotes. I fully realise that Jews don't acknowledge the New Testament.

Update 2:

Hatikvah JPA -

You error in that you do not know your own scriptures. There is a "new covenant" referenced in the book of Jeremiah. Jews just refuse to acknowledge that new covenant has already been cut, but as the prophesy states, they will at some point.

Jeremiah 31:31-34

31Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall

Our Bible is called the Hebrew Bible (or TaNaKh). "Old" implies something new. There is no "new" testament (covenant) in Judaism. The eternal covenant between God and Israel is still in force. What is it about the word eternal that many people don't seem to understand?

All of the books of the Hebrew Bible are holy, but there are degrees of holiness. Creating holiness here on earth is one of the main concepts of Judaism. We create holiness by making things "special." By keeping them separate and apart. The Sabbath is holy because we make it special in many ways. The Bibles we use in services are God's Word which are holy, but the Torah scroll is even more holy. It is stored in an ark as the central feature of the sanctuary. It is covered with a crown of silver and other adornments. When we take it out of the ark on Saturdays, it is brought "down" from the bimah (stage?) to the people, recalling revelation at Mt. Sinai.

If you are asking about levels of observance, all the branches of orthodox Judaism observe all the commandments still possible without the Temple, Conservative Jews observe many of the commandment, and Reform and Reconstructionist Jews may or may not observe the commandments.

Great question but isnt the whole of the old testament the scripture to the Jewish? I thought that only the new testament was for followers of Christ as well

If they did they would not have been so disobedient and rebellious and they would not have been exiled and dispersed among the Heathen nations.

Have you read the Old Testament? It is embarrassing to see the record of the disobedience, faithlessness and rebellion of the Jews all the way through.

Obviously they do not believe else they would be mortified to repentance.

    What a warning for us!
