What are the specifics of Dragunity Aklys' effect?
I Just rebuilt my Dragunity deck, and I have been getting into arguments with my friends about the effect of Aklys' effect. I understand it does not activate when the monster it is equipped to is removed from play to special summon Dragunity Leyvaten, but what about when it's sent to the graveyard without the monster Aklys is equipped to? Let me give an example:
You normal summon Aklys, which allows you to special summon Dragunity Legionnaire from your hand. Then you activate Legionnaire's effect to send Aklys to the graveyard to destroy a face up monster on your opponnent's side of the field. When you send Aklys to the graveyard in this way, does Aklys' effect also activate, allowing you to destroy another card on the field?
A simpler example is:
Aklys is equipped to a card, your opponent uses Mystical Space Typhoon against it, does Aklys' effect still activate?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is probably my best working deck in years!!!
Well, If I get a few more Dragunity Knights anyway...

As long as it's not destroyed by the Game Mechanics, it is able to trigger its effect.
MST triggers the effect.
Legionnaire triggers the effect.

If it is sent to the Graveyard while equipped, it gets its effect. It's pretty simple when you think about it.
If the monster is was equipped to is removed from the field in any way, Aklys is no longer equipped to anything, so it is destroyed by game mechanics. It wasn't sent to the Graveyard while equipped to anything, so it doesn't activate.
If the equipped Aklys itself is destroyed by something or sent to the Graveyard by a card effect, then it was equipped to something when it was sent, so its effect will activate.
Basically, if the monster its equipped to is removed from the field, Aklys won't activate. If Aklys itself is sent to the Graveyard by an effect, it will activate.
And if both Aklys and the monster equipped to it are sent simultaneously, then Aklys will activate because it was equipped when it was destroyed.
If Aklys is MST'd, while it was equipped to a monster, it will activate. Same with Legionnaire.
