Can you suggest a good bakery in SF?

Especially one that is cheap. Looking for European or American pastries. Not buying a lot, just enough for a family.

    There are also a number of bakeries with day-old breads and pastries. Still just as good.

    Entemann's/Oroweat outlet at Bryant and 17th.

    Destination Bakery in Glen Park sells their pastries for half price after 2:00.

    Philz Coffee (several locations) sells day-old pastries.

    I think Maggie Mudd on Cortland in Bernal Heights still has cake sales on Wednesdays.
