How can you believe in the literal truth of the Bible?

...when it says:

Adam, Methuselah and Noah all lived in excess of 900 years. Genesis (various)

Unicorns exist. Job 39:9-10, Psalm 22:21, Numbers 23:22 and 24:8, plus others.

Dragons exist. Isiah 34:13, Psalm 91:13, Deuteronomy 32:33, plus others.

The Cockatrice exists. Isiah 11:8

Satyrs exist. Isiah 13:21.

And then there's the basic stuff like a man living in the stomach of a huge fish for days and surviving.

Update:

@Matthew: "Because the Bible is God's word. God does not lie."

So do you admit there's no corroborating evidence for any of these things? Nobody's EVER found a unicorn, dragon or satyr fossil. No human has ever lived even a quarter as long as Noah is supposed to have lived.

Update 2:

@keniray: "Focus on the life-changing chapters of the Bible to find out that the Bible is literally true"

I understand that, but if the Bible is literally true, then ALL of it must be true. You can't call it literally true while ignoring the unbelievable parts.

Update 3:

@Servant: "As for dragons and long life-spans, who cares?"

Again, if you're going to claim the Bible is 100% true, then you can't simply dismiss things with a "who cares?" EVERYTHING must be true.

And I find the mistranslation excuse to be extremely convenient. Especially when the Virgin Mary story is also likely due to a mistranslation ("young woman" instead of "virgin"), yet most Christians cling to the Virgin Mary story as absolute literal truth.

Update 4:

@Ciro Di napoli-

You completely avoided answering the question.

Update 5:

@Wrenage-

Those explanations are patently ridiculous. Frankly, it is pretty obvious to intelligent people that those are desperate explanations created by people who were desperate to rationalize all the problems with the Bible.

You can look up articles on pretty much all those things here:

    http://www.answersingenesis.org/

Old age is no problem. The world was a lot more life-friendly before the flood, and people were originally created eternal and perfect. As humanity gets further from those pure genetics, and the world keeps winding down, they become more susceptible to disease. Look up studies where experimenters try to create pre-flood conditions for plants. It's pretty amazing.

So the Bible says unicorns exist. Again, no problem. Do you think the Bible is describing animals with pink manes and glitter? That is a modern image of unicorns. Unicorn is a "one-horned animal." Why couldn't that exist in forms other than a rhino? Other lifeforms have gone extinct.

Dragons...dinosaurs look pretty dragony to me. And pretty much every society has dragon legends. It's evolutionists that say that can't happen. Biblically, dinosaurs and humans ran into each other.

Why can't Jonah survive in a fish? If it's a miracle, God is not bound by natural laws. How did three men survive in a fiery furnace? How did the Israelites cross the Red Sea. The nature of miralces is that they are supposed to defy natural laws, otherwise they wouldn't be miracles.

Anyway, go to the above site for lots of articles on such things.

    1) "Unicorns exist."

No, the KJV is the only Bible in the world that uses that word. Every other translation uses things such as "ox."

    2) "The Cockatrice exists."

Same as above, only with a viper instead of an ox.

    3) "Satyrs exist."

Same as above, only with a goat instead of a viper.

As for dragons and long life-spans, who cares?

Edit: "Again, if you're going to claim the Bible is 100% true, then you can't simply dismiss things with a "who cares?" EVERYTHING must be true."

I am not dismissing the Bible; I am dismissing your objection to those things.

Not a problem; there's no proof for either fact or fiction of these statements. Focus on the life-changing chapters of the Bible to find out that the Bible is literally true.

Edit: Although it's not possible to prove those statements, I believe they are literally true because of the abundance of other Scripture that is proven true by history, archeology, and hundreds of fulfilled predictions especially details of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The list is long!

THE MORE YOU ARE SKEPTIC, THE MORE I BELIEVE IN GOD, AMEN. Give yourself to God little man, he has many things in store for you. That is because, I believe in every-single-thing that bible says, and I'm sure many things are named in an era that is not ours, that is way they may sound unbelievable to you. I have no doubt, not even the slightest suspect that even one of those things if false, satisfied?
